While software has become the nerve system of our society it´s complexity seems to be constantly growing. In order to challenge arising issues in the fields of economy, society, politics and ecology the development of a resilient and sustainable critical infrastructure will play an important role. Many organisations and companies depending on software are already finding themselves in a crisis: mistakes, blackouts, security issues, high operating costs as well as ethical problems turn out to be serious threats to the infrastructure and existence of operators. How did we get ourselves into this complexity trap? What are the driving factors and how do human and organizational factors influence the road to resilient and sustainable software systems?
